Check this out:
Looks interesting…
i love plogue bidule,so i will get this
One note: The multi VST version will show up as single output plugin in Renoise right now. We’ve been in contact with the bidule devs, and already fixed this for the next Renoise update…
Huge fan of chipmusic but the price and quality of demosongs didnt convince me. Interesting though
“over 8 chips included” - I love these marketing statements
I actually think this sounds awesome, hehe. Considering the amount of effort it takes to research and then accurately recreate an authentic emulation of a sound chip, including all the quirks and weird behaviour people grew to love (or learn to live with), then doing this for 8 different chips is quite an impressive task.
I think they show off a decent range of fairly complex sounds. I’m definitely not a sound chip nerd or an 8-bit console purist, but to me this sounds pretty damn good.
Once a person buys Renoise and experiences the sheer amount of value included in that small price, I admit, it can be difficult justifying more expensive software which “doesn’t do as much”, hehe. The plug-in market is definitely saturated with ridiculously overpriced products, but I personally think $75 is very reasonable for such a product.
you didn’t get what I meant: the included chips are not 8: they are 9. but the marketing guys think that saying “over 8 chips included” sounds far more impressive than “9 chips included”. to me, it simply sounds ridicolous.
anyway, the rest of what you say is true.
Haha, my mistake, I didn’t notice that it was 9… and I wholeheartedly agree, that IS silly.
Anyway, the synth is pretty much a no-brainer purchase for me, but other people should be aware of this which I found on the site:
The vid is very nice
2A03 (wich was on NES) is the best one!
I had a little LOL at the “over 8 (9)” thing as well.
I am super tempted to get this.
Well, just bought my copy
Gonna experiment with it a bit later.
Big thanks to Leon for posting this, because I might not have spotted it for a couple of weeks. You just saved me some money!
Hi!
Well the number changed as the VL-1 doesn’t actually count, and that i have a bunch of other chips that ive not finished analyzing yet, so to leave rooom for updates, we said “over 8” or something…
Cheers
Ooooh! Don’t suppose you could give any hints?
Btw… I didn’t even realise the VL-1 was in there. When I stumbled onto the “VL-1 Da Da Da” preset, I laughed my ass off.
Not at all, anyway my research blogs has at least two of them:
Super Cassette Vision’s uPD1771C
Philips SAA 1099
Astrocade,
making sub plugins for certain chips which would improve their emulation, etc.
lots of work on the table for me.
You just have to have that if you have a VL1 … lol
My pleasure! Bearing in mind how much I love Glitch, I owe you far more than this
Cheers for the post, seriously considering splashing out here as well… no eye left dry when listening to this kinda stuff! Well, not mine’s anyway.
