So I just pre-ordered a PocketC.H.I.P. as I saw they got Sunvox up and running on it and I like the idea of a tiny computer with a full keyboard (Still not totally stoked on the touchscreen only controls in a tracker, although Sunvox still works quite well within Android etc.)
So my question is, is there anything that would prevent Renoise from running on this device?? Would be great to have a little pocket Renoise action going on!
You’re dreaming dude… The PocketCHIP runs on ARM, so I’m pretty sure it’s not possible at this time. Same reason it can’t be run on Raspberry Pi. More details here:
However, THANKS for introducing me to the PocketCHIP, that thing looks awesome. So ghetto how it’s just a bare PCB, I actually love stuff like that. And only $50!!! I’ll definitely have to get me one at some point just to mess around. The only thing that I can forsee that would suck about music making on it, is that the keyboard rows are lined up instead of staggered on a regular keyboard… So for example you can’t have your typical ZSXDC (C, C#, D, D#, E), etc layout.
But still… Really cool!
Edit: I take that back about the staggered layout. Some pictures I’ve seen have the “lined up” keys and others have them staggered. I wonder which it will ship with?
Awww snapppp! yeah that’s what I figured but it doesn’t hurt to dream a little I guess thanks for the reply. I’m perfectly content to work with sunvox but renoise would have been the icing on the cake I’m not sure what the final version is going to look like but since they plan on shipping in June I’d assume it’s getting pretty close to what will be released. Not sure which keyboard layout is the final though. And yeah, totally agree on loving the aesthetic of the device, so raw and geeky
