Hello everyone. This is my first post here so I apologize if I posted this somewhere it shouldn’t be.
I am using an asus eee pc 901 with the renoise 2 demo and I’ve encountered an issue where the pointer sticks while I play a note manually. This is something I’m not sure I can deal with as I’ve grown used to adjusting eq/effect/vst settings on the fly with other machines.
If this has been solved already please point me in the right direction as I overlooked the solution.
Thanks in advance!
Oh and this has to be one of the greatest icons I’ve ever seen:
I have never encountered something like this. Does the CPU level raise a lot when playing these notes? Does this happen with every instrument, even not VST-based?
The cpu does not raise much at all, just normal usage. It also happens with every instrument/sample/vsti etc. The second I let go of the key to play the instrument the pointer resumes normal operation.
With smaller notebooks and laptops, they used to have power-saving options enabled, like speedstep (to preserve energy).
Time critical applications are not able to work efficiently with these options enabled as these power savings options degrade the CPU functionality. So if you can:adjust all power consumption levels that they are exploited at their max as much as possible.
Then…
You could try toggling the Use Gfx compatible updates checkbox in the Renoise preferences
Or adjust the directsound latency value in the Audio preferences which might speed up GFX actions as well.
