rewire aint that important for me, but i know theres quite a few of you guys that could really do with it so have a read of this as it may be a decent alternative for what youre looking for:
“Have you ever wanted to take the audio output of one piece of software and send it to another? How about taking the output of that same program and send it to two others, then record the result in the first program? If so, JACK may be what you’ve been looking for.”
i havent tried it so i dont know if its any good, and as i mentioned above i dont really use rewire anyway so i couldnt tell you how it compares.
i hope someone finds it useful.
[i’m restraining myself from making the obvious jokes about the name,…]
YEAH ! Jack finally avaiable for PC … I have been waiting ages for this, lets just hope it works as I want … I tried some other shareware applications before but I got dropouts with them which is unacceptable if I want f.e. to spice the output of my MP3Jing software up with some effects in reaktor or live. Can’t have dropouts infront of an audience.
jack is excellent - used to use it on linux
(<--------- gentoo lol).
But dont know if this will work with cubase and logic etc. normally programs need to have jack compatibility. This goes back to the whole problem that you can’t implement a new/good/better way of interfacing with annother app if it’s closed source. The big companies arn’t about to add support for jack in a hurry. They want incompatibility between other software, this way they can screw everyone into buying (or not buying) their product.
