When previewing the samples in the sample list, is there any way you can set it up so that the samples will not be routed through the master bus (where you can have a whole of effects) but directly to the soundcard output? So you can preview the sample uneffected?
no, that’s unfortunately not possible.

You can create a sendtrack that will be applied as “Master” track from where you can route all your tracks to and apply effects on that sendtrack. Then just leave the master track empty, you can prehear anything unaffected this way.
(Having the prehear option split from the mastertrack is a known wish)
