Hey P.T, I was speaking in general
I know all people act strange when you are forced to count every cent you got. We all do. Thats why I think a donation thing could be a good idea. So people can donate a few € in good times whenever they feel like it.
About the version number. I think its just fair that the developers sometimes calibrate the version number.
Just look how much you got from v1.2 to v1.281. With that speed we would never reach v2.0
And still we are discussing an unreleased version.
Lets just wait and see. And try to look at the big picture.
What about delaying this dicussion after the release of 1.5 ? Then everyone will see what 1.5 is about and what not. This is a far better base for discussing, isnt it ?
And as I`ve already said : We dont want to steal you any money. But if we contiue like we did in the past, we will beat cubase with a 1.9 release where still noone who is registered now has to pay anything for the update.
All we do now is learning from the mistakes that we have made, by releasing in bigger steps. Time will show if this is finally better or not, and if we should after that continue releasing small updates again or not …
i think ending the rhetoric about this next release is a really good idea. it would probably help you guys out with your work if you didn’t have a bunch of people flinging moral dillemas about it at you.
i think you’re totally on the right track with all of this.
Ufff, I must wait 18 months for voice recording and arranger?!
OK, no problem, for sure I will not wait, but I will continue to compose and use for that time combination of current Renoise and Cubase, and when that day will came, then I will only use Renoise .
I really think some donations should be made possible, tho if I may suggest a fun way of donating now: Host a compo with Renoise as the top prize(s)!
First of all, you would increase the userbase, which is like spreading the word to some us loonies
Second, everybody LOVES a compo!
Third, some people are hopelessly poor… But skilled! They will definetly love something like this!
Fourth: There ya go, donations are made.
Oh, and while I’m at it, could you make gift-registrations with open artist names available?
And, must I mention:
Hahaha, I actually have NO doubt about that, given time and funds! Funny how quotes can be given new meanings…
Maybe you oughtta put something up on the news page - not everyone interested in Renoise reads every thread in the forums. Or is the news page just there to trick people?
Well… I love the way Renoise is now, sure every new feature is welcome (especially full-screen score looks appealing to me: it would be really nice to be able to edit the score without scrolling), but I just can’t wait for Renoise 1.5… for the OSX version!
My good old Toshiba laptop just died (some months after my lil’ server with ALL my few songs in it), and if Renoise 1.5 comes out in time, well,
my next laptop will be a Mac
I’ll gladly register Renoise
BTW, will the Mac version’s licence be valid for the Windows version as well? My desktop computer is a PC and no, I don’t want it to die anytime soon and replace it with a Mac.
Personally, I’m not particularily rich, but I WOULD pay 500 ? for Renoise 1.281. If that was the price, because a dream has no price .
(Hey Renoise crew, hope I’m not giving you any ideas… )
Please do not reply to this, I’m not intending to start another endless arguing about what sould be or shouldn’t be the price of a tracker… I’m just trying to show my love here
