Haters, Seriously i respect your opinion but don’t agree with your frustration. I mean yes i and a lot of people would like Internal midi routing and audio track (Or any other feature) and i am pretty sure that the devs would like even more to implement them. They sure dream every night about what renoise will be doing in couple of release.
That being said, they are doing their best to lead their work toward those missing features but sometimes they have to make choices. Everybody that is not working on the code don’t really know what they have to implement to have such feature, for coding you got to follow the steps. Personnaly, as a coder, i would prepare my code of actual features to be ready for more complex function.
Anyway, personally i know that you can’t make everybody happy in anything (That’s the problem with politics!) But i am very happy with the new release thank you to all the team you got my personal respect ! Now please stop working, take some days to share time with your families and i wish you guys the best !
I think renoise devs think that tracker users are toying… Renoise devs do not beleive in tracker potential anymore or thez would have worked on pro features that any moderne daw must have to be competitive…that any serius producer would need… Not just “fun” features… But as i read more and more renoise is not designed to be a daw… But a sample mangling tool to be used in conjonction of a True dawn… Arguru died too soon… And with him trackers… Rip
HAHAHAHAHAHA Nice one ! Like there is a conspiracy theory about tracker developper so they work for other daw company to make sure tracker will never evolve ! It was a good one… really…
Dude, it’s a tracker. That’s what trackers are. Need something for traditional composing? Find something fortraditional composing! Renoise is, as said, techno machine and sound mangling tool.
Have you guys gotten rid of that horrible ‘advanced edit’ relic that’s been annoying me since Fast Tracker II?
This is the BEST version ever, I can’t even believe a few people are disappointed by its features. WTF?? Seriously, we have phrases now! OMG, this is soooooo cool! I can build my songs 500% faster now.
I really look forward to learn more about the Content Libraries, and the possibilites to organize and distribute such content for use in other DAWs through the upcoming Redux.
Speakinig of Redux… you know - whoever is responsible for this idea is a real genius. Renoise’s strengths as a sample-sequencer are well known, even by people who don’t use Renoise. Just imagine the possibilities here, especially in conjunction with the Content Libraries… fcuking awesome!! Now I really hope for an iOS/Android version of Redux as well, for a holy trinity concept of working (mobile, desktop and any DAW). />
I’m extremely impressed by this release, but to be honest I’m most happy to see that Renoise developers are proud enough of their product to build the bridge over to the VST/AU users of other DAWs. It’s a very mature and wise decision. Screw the DAW stuff like linear arranger, audio tracks, etc - this is so much better in every way.
Big kudos to the developers and a Merry X-mas to everyone! /> /> />
I think it has a lot of applications for people who like to do live things. You can arrange drum patterns and whatnot and trigger them when you want them, set up different ways for them to play, etc.
Also has applications for creating interesting .xrni’s, for example check out the text to speech instrument included. I couldn’t get it to actually work but I understand what it’s supposed to do and it’s really cool. Given enough samples you could build a sort of vocaloid xrni.
Nonetheless, he made a point about the sample mangling focus. As far as I can see, the new instrument editor is the biggest piece of Renoise 3.0 feature cake. Great for e.g. live performance and sound design - and I like that - but I’d also say other DAW’s are more “balanced”. That’s the problem with missing Renoise road map: people which like the tracker concept but hoped for addition of more classical DAW features must be disappointed, now. I hoped for addition of Audio- or Wavtracks since Renoise 1.8 (7 years !). And right now, I’m really not sure if it will ever come.
ATM, I try to accept that fact, that I can’t do everything with a single DAW. At least Renoise offers Rewire, and in near future Redux for integration into other DAW’s.
And, yes I’m thankfull that Renoise is still a bargain, and it has a lot of cool new features !!
And I wish the devs and rest of the team merry Christmas and happy holidays.
Why don’t you load one of the phrases up in one of your instruments? (click on the library icon, check the “Other” button on the far right of the diskop, then go to the phrases folder)
Or try the Fuzzy Slide lead instrument from the library to test the tone portamento effect.
From what some of them have said, I kind of feel like some of those features are coming eventually. R3 is just in beta, but even if no major changes come before official release, 3.1 will come soon, and we might see some of those things start trickling in. If not though, well, we’ll have Redux and Rewire. Redux when you think about it brings a ton of tracker functionality to a traditional DAW because of the phrase editor. You can arrange and trigger an entire song with the phrase editor, and not have to use the piano roll if you want. I’ll still just be using Renoise, but I think Redux is more profound than its being given credit for.
Add an operand to the pitch table, Set the alteration mode to “[+]” set the input slider from 0.500 to 0, map a macro to the pitch operand value slider, add instr. macro device to track and then start automating that macro rotary you bound to the pitch operand value
On a serious note, very cool! Looking forward to try everything out.
Too bad the samplesearch function still doesn’t include (sub)folders.
Everything looks great and I’m veeerry curious about Redux!
As a “old” Renoise-User i must say: I’ll not pay for something that i not know. I must upgrade my license (Valid until Renoise 2.9), to download a Beta-Version of Renoise 3? Sorry, that will not work for me. Renoise is cool, awesome, for sure. But now i’ll wait until 3 is released as Demo-Version.
I don’t normally post on the forums, but I just wanted to say thanks and congratulations to the dev team!
I haven’t used Renoise in a minute, because I’ve been working on more ambient stuff lately. There are a lot of nice and much needed features here already. But I’m extremely excited for Redux, combining that with Reaper will be insane!
That is okay. Upgrading your license would pack you up to 3.9 with a discount on the current price though. When 3.0 is final you get discount on the new price, but also eligible to (and including) Renoise 4.0
Both moments have their own advantages. Ofcourse when considering 3.0 is your cup of tea after trying the Demo, no one will get mad if you pass completely.
one small question… I miss the option to go through vst-instruments presets while playing the song… with the patterns viewed now i can only change the presets in the “big plugin window”
So, it was a little difficult at first, but my overall impression is a positive one…
AUTOMATE FX ON/OFF!!!
Display envelopes in ms
Musical scales
Doofer
Lights to signify playback
Modulation section
No Modulation Target - (like Hydra) so we can distribute the modulations.
Tuning features - afta8 has got this on lockdown, it should be in
Native effects stagnating
FX per sample?! WHY?? This complicates matters
and…
No Automation of LOOP POINTS :C
My only hope is that Redux doesnt take focus off Renoise productions, its likely that it will be way more accessible to the mass market. I pity anyone who has to learn Renoise as it is now!!
Well done Renoise team
Anyone in this situation should get Renoise 3.0 imo
Really? You waited til I went away for x-mas to release the beta. Now I have to wait until I get back home before I can try it out!! Damn you, Renoise dev-team!!!
