Tekkonkinkreet is an interesting departure from the big, wide-eyed manga aesthetic.
Some moments in the animated version really touched me.

My Mutant Breaks submission – all those strings were taken from Ghost in the Shell. I got the vinyl that was pressed earlier this year
One of my doggies names is Lain after Serial Experiments.
If you guys haven’t seen it yet, I’d highly recommend Psychopass. Was on Netflix though I can’t seem to find it there now. Seriously good.
Also thoroughly enjoyed One Punch Man.
Yeahhh …Psychopass season 1 and 2…and the OVAs
Look for it in animeflv

Cyber City Oedo 808 is a fun little cyberpunk noir-ish mini-series.
Plenty of kick-ass futuristic action and goofy one-liners.
Only 3 episodes that I’m aware of.
Should be relatively easy to track down online.
Ninja Scroll is another absolute classic.
More recently…
If you haven’t seen One-Punch Man then you simply have not lived imho
I streamed it online, but I think it was also picked up by Adult Swim? Should be easy to find the eps somewhere anyway.
These anime are my favourites yo:
Hajime no ippo
Mushishi
Trigun
the red turtle
spirited away
tokyo godfather
Mind game
ok i didnt feel the need to mention
One Punch Man …because i automatically assume that everyone likes it

Hi. Saw Akira in '93/'94, been in love with Japan ever since. Been twice, 日本語を勉強していると going again next year. My avatar is from Lost in translation.
Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Porco Rosso
Nausicaa
Gundam 0079 - TV Series
City Hunter - TV Series
Dirty Pair - TV Series
A slightly less well know film, I highly recommend Sword of the Stranger. It’s better than Ninja Scroll. (I love Ninja Scroll)

Lot of action/serious anime listed here; where all my slice of life at?
