I am seriously interested in buying renoise, so I downloaded the 1.8 demo and started to work some things out if this program suits me and more precisely the combination with energyXT loaded as an VSTI ( energyXT is my main host now).
The problem so far is that when changing the speed (from F106 - F103 for example and expanding that track pattern) this information is not correctly send / or read resulting in skipping to different parts on the timeline of the sequencer in energyXT. What am I doing wrong, is there a way to solve this?
I already asked this on the energyXT forum, but no response unfortunately maybe because the lack of renoise users there.
A quick guess: Set the XTsequencer’s Sync to ‘External’ when using XTe or XT.
If it keeps doing weird stuff with the beat measure it may because of the tick relationship with the speed setting in Renoise. Keep it on Speed 6 and then change the bpm in Renoise. XT can only currently slave to Renoise, not the other way round.
Yes I already set the Sync in eXT to External. I think its because of the tick relationship with the speed you mentioned. Is this something that is related to the VST(i) improved timing that they are working on? (as described in the change-log).
Changing speed in renoise (thus number of ticks per line), has always made eXT jump in position like that.
To make this go smooth you have to keep a constant speed in Renoise. Change the BPM instead.
In ‘Song Properties’ in Renoise you can also change how VST tempo should react on speed changes. But still you can get trouble when changing speed…
