Renoise syncing with hardware - maybe this is a tip?

Anyone have any tricks/tips to getting your hardware to keep in sync? I’m not currently having any issues with sync but I’m curious if anyone else has any quirky ways of getting their gear to work. For context, I use an Octatrack that sends midi to a modular system. Im usually using channel 2 of the octatrack to send a tick to midi channel 2 at tempo.

Personally, I’ve found the most solid way to record is to send only the start/stop message via midi (no clock) and match tempo on your outboard gear, in my case, an Octatrack. Keeps you from having clock drift in your recordings. I think the ability to turn off clock and keep on start/stop has been the biggest thing that moved me to Renoise. Maybe it’s a pain to make sure your gear is all matched at the right tempo, but it’s a hell of a lot safer and solid in my opinion.
