Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got a new record holder!
You started not less than 4 years earlier than me. Kudos!
You used OctaMED, so you’ve used more than 4 tracks right from the beginning?
Yeah we got it in a bundle of copied discs one year, me and a friend both had Amiga 500s, we would sit and just mess about sequencing random sounds. My Dad used it in conjunction with a 4 track tape machine, his bass guitar and Juno 60. It felt like wild alchemy back then. After losing interest I wish I had known of Renoise a lot sooner than I did. I spent my late teens/early twenties in Reason and Cubase and fell off until literally 2019 when i found Renoise.
Tried trackers for the first time when I was ~13-14, around 2010-11.
I grew up listening to IDM (thanks dad) and lots of artists who used trackers, so I tried MadTracker and MilkyTracker out of curiosity (the main influence was Binaerpilot’s Nordland album). Couldn’t figure it out by myself back then, though. Only went back into tracking in ~2019.
