Sorry for the late reply guys. I completely forgot to check up on this post.
If I was asking the question ‘how is my mixing?’ I’d probably do what Raegae did in this thread → https://forum.renoise.com/t/help-me-in-mastering/46840Which is to post the xrns (yes yes I know it is not always possible because of VST’s,size etc… But I would limit myself to just samples (small size) and Renoise native fx.) Maybe someone would come along and mess about with it and then you could compare
Never actually thought to share the xrns file. That’s a great idea 4tey, I’ll have to go back and review it as I haven’t actually looked at since I posted it here. Usually my workflows are quite a mess, with dsp, doofers, and fx strung all over the place If it’s not too much of a mess, I’ll post it up. Otherwise I think I might wait and share a newer more organised song. I’ve only recently begun to actually organize all this stuff because it was getting to hard to keep track of it all, making it hard to return to the original file without getting lost. I’ll definitely post something in the future. It’d be great to get a tweaked comparison.
I can’t really comment Redman on the mix as such because I’m not a mixing/mastering expert, plus I use headphones… But I can tell you what I expected to happen (but this is just my personal preference). I expected a change of chord.
Ok so more advancement in arrangement. Cool. :)Just started reading up on music theory so I’ll be working on chord progressions, harmonies, and all that stuff now. Then apply it to some new tracks. Thanks 4tey.
Hi Redman, I liked the track, it held my interest and it sounds good. I don’t think you need to worry about your mixing, it sounded fine to me, nothing sounded out of balance instrumentally and the EQ is pleasing. Definitely take a break every once in a while though, it’s a fact that your ears do get tired and you lose your judgement. Keep plugging away, you’re good.
Thanks Rick. Glad to hear that the EQ sounded ok. That was one of my concerns, been trying to focus on it lately, and get things sounding nice not just to my ears but to the ears of others as well.
nice. getting an Enigma vibe here.
Thanks Heartbeat. Glad you liked it man. P.s As a graphic designer, if have to say I like you new logo design, looks real slick.
