I guess this have been posted alot of times before, but anyway: A simple sample envelope DSP controller. (One controller for START, and one for END)
This would make it easy to assign it to a midi knob, enable you to control short sample envelopes to make your own “synth”.

this is not how we want to take care of this. our idea, told on the various thread about this idea (yes, your guess was a good one), is to allow automation of sample based instruments in a way similar to how VST and MIDI instruments are treated.
this will be more general and then not limited to 09xx only.
one of the future versions will have such a completely new XRNI concept.
