Every now and then while working on a track I get slowed down and realize that it’d be nice if you could have another option in the advanced edit panel.
It’d be really cool if there was a “selection in song column” option added to the panel. The way I work on tracks, I have my loops/sections broken down into smaller patterns. Often times I find myself scrolling back and forth copying one column from 4 patterns to another 4 patterns in the patt sequencer.
In this case with that option, you could select however many patterns in the patt sequencer and the current column that the cursor is in could be copied/deleted/transposed/exchanged/etc. Which would save a lot of time.
Also, ADD the ability to note interpolate! Another feature that would save hours off my life.
track and column are not the same thing because a track can contain more than one column (try LCTRL+LSHIFT+RARROW to add one).
yes and no
I mean the whole pattern because when dealing with more patterns you have one big problem: although most of people always use patterns of the same length, this is not generally true so it’s not easy (it does not have a general meaning) to define a selection in more than one pattern, unless you select a whole column or track.
this would have the consequence that such kind of selection over multiple patterns can only be identified if:
all the selected patterns have the same length
OR all the selected patterns have a length which less than the last row of the block selection
OR the selection includes all of the rows of a pattern (an entire column, an entire track or an entire pattern is selected), which should be interpreted as the intention of selecting all the rows of the other patterns, regardless of their number of rows.
in all other cases, this option should not be available.
But I don’t see how it would be that much of a problem if the pattern lengths are different.
Currently, if you copy a section of a pattern (lets say 00-32 [with a note on 00 and 32] on a pattern that’s 64 in length) and then you paste on line 56. All you see is the note on 56. But now after doing this, if you expand the length of the pattern from 64 to 96, you’ll see the other note on line 88.
Besides, if you’re copying sections of your song from one part to the next, I would hope that you would be paying attention to your own patt lengths.
Thanks for straightening out the track/col for me.
