Set Tempo Problem

What with using hex and 2 digits it seems like renoise cant use the set bpm command whilst working at doubled or quadrupaled bpms.

Set speed doesnt offer quite enough control so i was wondering if there was any way ive missed of entering a “set bpm” higher than FF?

Currently, the pattern commands cannot go higher than FF.

If you’re after speed changes that exceed that usually you can do that by using the F1XX command to change the tick count (speed). Going from 6 to 3 will double your speed for example.

Thanks for the confirmation on that foo and bantai
The change speed command is often not really fine enough though.

I cant think of a workaround so i might have to start exporting to cubase again for some things… sigh.

yeah, the hex limit needs to be broken down like the Berlin wall SOOON!

Lovely as this would be i get the impression that its the sort of ground up stuff that wont change.
Maybe for the best more hex digits might be less usable and immediate.
Specificly on the tempo issue i think id rather see the option to double resolution or split bpms or something (as in the speed sticky) so that 256 is enough to get very freely changing times when needed.

Its that or make some commands relative so that 256 + 256 = 512. Currently its absolute andthe 2nd is ignored. I imagine that would cause probs though… just a thought.

I think it does need work though… the workaround i was dreading and have just had to use for something involved resampling then fiddling with speed changes and the number of lines in a mini pattern and the larger one before it until things were right.

The s**t i go through to avoid cubase lol
