Show Me Your Home Studios

Thanks. I need better monitors

i was giving up on my krk rokit 5 but started understanding better visualizers and other metering software ā€¦and now my mixes are improving and sound way better than they used too

I read the new Rokits are quite good, but I think I will get some Neumanns (KH120) and then I 'm done for the next 10 years.

well i already upgraded my audio interface and that brought some nice extra features that i needed like loopback ā€¦
the only thing i plan on upgrading maybe later this year is my pc ā€¦its from 2017 and its quite basic old i5 7400 3.0 GHz with 8gb ram

I have a similar PC from 2015 and I think I can use it for further ~2 years if it doesnā€™t break.

yeah tbh mine still is able to keep up with my projects ā€¦the only thing i need to keep an eye on is if im using several instances of the grid with heavy patches that tends to add extra load cause of the 4x oversampling thing and what not

but for the most part iā€™m good in most scenarios

i even went back to mixing with stems so im even better

Renoise, a few other apps (Substantia, Paulstretch, Praat, MaryTTS, VCV, waveform generators, etc.), home-made mics, a ZOOM F1 for recording stuff on the go, and a pair of KRK Rokit5s. Not much of a physical studio.

Jesusā€¦ These are mid field monitors. Isnā€™t it too loud??

Not at all they have a minimum listening distance of 0.5M. I had quite a long chat with Genelec before I brought them, and was through there advice I brought them. Sound stunning

What did you use before?

Adam AX5. I had a substantial compensation package in June. I donā€™t drive so these were a present to myself instead of a car (although I did buy the wife one :grinning:).

does it really matter ? u have a volume knob after all.

you arenā€™t supposed to own studio monitors at home because they echo too much in a bedroom. you really need a large studio space or sound dampening for it to not look like you are using them to drown out the sound of a screaming child or infant, or house guest. its time to dump them in the garbage, as now the fbi and police have this info on record.

I second the ā€œJesusā€¦ā€. Also, you might have also splurged on a bigger monitor  Nice.

Edit: Also, +1 for the mixcube (if Iā€™m seeing right). Those things are magical.
