i guess this idea can be related to a sort of setup like adobe’s photoshop in the sense that all windows are able to be moved, resized, or docked. i thought of this while i was trying to check out my loaded samples and got lost derrrrr and also whenever i minimize a window and gawk at the size of the pattern editor…p.s. sorry if this was already suggested or completely addressed, for i am still using a demo.
moveable windows would be great for a multiple screen setup.
and finally, there should probably be some way to save/recall window positions/sizes, maybe in the theme file or however else… mabye just a button to save/recall settings…ok thanks bye, renoise rules<3
I think consideration for multi screens it quite important now, but perhaps not moveable windows. I think this could cause problems when switching between main views like sample editor, mixer etc. But I do think that renoise should be developed with a kind of symmetry in mind so reading between the screen’s is a bit easier. I use a spanned mode for renoise (2560x1024) so I get plenty of track space, which makes a big difference. To work around the tracks between screens, I resize the patern editor so they are not split between them. The only niggles I notice are track & master scopes are not symmetrical and therefore split, along with VSTs opening in between screens (with the latter probably not even being under the control of Renoise). I’ll find out how the mixer view looks too, although I can’t envisage any problems. I should get my PCI-E capable motherboard back tomorrow, so I’ll be able to look & see how 1.8b’s have developed with regards to this. I’m currently on a socket A & agp piece of crap setup so really can’t wait, everything’s stuttering!
Another thing I feel should be considered is that renoise has the advantage of having some nifty effects put in place as it is one of probably a few sequencers that uses a true fullscreen mode (directx isn’t it?). Things like anti aliasing on sample editor & scopes along with a more configurable VU meter, perhaps with some configurable push-pull features & fancy gradients? And something that could represent the track’s width would be nice too, like a spatial meter or something, if it subtracts from audio performance significantly, then perhaps these could become optional
Hay why not go the whole hog & try for the 3D type setup in Vista!
Yup I tried vista release candidate 3 with my new Pc but I couldn’t get some of the drivers for my new mainboard to work so I skipped it. But it looks good and seams to perform ok.
Only used it for a day or two so I didn’t install many programs and can’t really say how much better it is than windows XP.
There’s a very limited number of boards certified vista ready at the moment. ASRock are the first to get certification for both Vista & Vista Premium, and I was lucky enough to win one! Shame I haven’t got the CPU & RAM to go with it, but in due time…
Would just like to post my dissaprovement for “loose” windows in renoise.
Especially dig the fact that everything is mounted and has its own place.
i hope it stays this way for ever, or at least the OPTION for it is gonna stay on.
I think this would also cause other problems… like windows that do not stay on top etc.
I believe i once suggested some kind of semi-platform type looking environment like Pinnacle Liquid Edition for example. (You app pretents to be a platform like Windows with a startbutton etc.)
