I dont know how im only realizing this now,but if you slice a break up and put the slices to phrase and use either keymap or program, the audio for each individual slice is slightly cut off towards the tail, its unfortunate because it can ruin the flow of some breaks.
Also if you transpose the instrument down one semitone, the gaps disappear
I see this has to do with the trigger slice option,i presume its to stop the spikes in transients, however the audio cut seems a bit drastic? its completely altering the flow of a lot of breaks im not sure what it is set at atm but im wondering if its possible to lower the amount of time this process takes?
The problem might be the loop’s duration relative to the project’s tempo. Try syncing them to the project’s BPM using beat sync, then render the loop to a new sampler and slice it.
I’m not sure. When I work with break loops and use slices that allow the loop to continue (not just one-shots), the first thing I do is start with a loop that’s rendered at the project’s BPM. Otherwise, this difference will be noticeable in the sequencing. Rendering is important because simply enabling beat sync doesn’t mean the slices will synchronise automatically.
I constantly use phrases in redux I’m going to be asking some daft and obvious questions so sorry in advance.
1 Do you use volume modulation on the instrument. Either a ADSR or Envelopes - maybe decay or release times too short?
2 Have you set NNA to continue instead of cut or note off?
3 Have you tried the following?
Identify the slices that are cutting too short select highlight the slice, I use the select current slice command.
Once selected, copy the selected slice and click at the end of the slice near the start of the next slice maker.
Paste the copied part of the slice.
Reverse the pasted slice and then fade out the reversed slice. Hey presto the mythical Paradox ‘air’
If you don’t want to faff like that then you can use a ping pong/backwards loop on the slice but then you have to make sure the volume modulation doesn’t keep the loop running to too long.
Also for the higher bpm breaks if you are rendering slice to phrase and the phrase is way too fast. Just double the phrase length, select all notes and right click expand.
