Just wondering how you guys achieve snare rushes in renoise usually i get a snare and just put it in a few lines in the pattern editor like:
C-401
C-401
C-401
C-401 etc or use the E1 command
Also have a listen to U-ziq’s secret stair (2) how do you think he does the effects on the snare on that do you think its just delay and retriggering?
there are audio-buffer effects like Audio Damage’s Replicant, whitenoise’s Memory or Heizenbox.
(IMO) renoise isnt very snare-rush friendly due to the fact that theres no midifx or “advanced command”
(e.g. to change the retrigger in time or manipulate the looppoints) in renoise.
and no i dont think its a tick or step limitation.
Actually thats not true! It totally depends on how you program and use your l33t tracker skillz
If anything Renoise gives you the features to create any mental (snare)rush you want (you can automate vst’s and render these on top for god sake ). You don’t even have to use some of the vst’s you listed, if you’re working on the higher bpm / lower speed settings and just use patterncommands wisely.
I agree it can be tedious though to program everything if you just want a quick fix, but then use & automate some of those advanced retriggering plugins. I often load up a bunch of drum samples out of a song I’m working on in a new instance, and create solely effect sections to render for use in the main song. You could first load these renditions into a wave-editor like wavelab, and reverse the sample, then process in reverbs / delay etc for those extra sucking motions blah whatever.
The typical trance build ups are 90’s, but with some imagination and skill it shouldn’t have to sound ‘old’.
10 to 80 is the volume column.i also select the rush and expand and shrink, automate bp filters and hp filters, equalisers, panning.also sourcing the rush and setting the particular snare to snares from other kits is fun to if u can understand,i explained it arseways.oh oh and i interpolate the volume commands all over the shop.tis well handy.
