Look for a program called PicaView. It displays thumbnails of pictures in the explorer right-click context menu, and also automatically plays media files (.wav) on right click. It used to be sold by ACDSys, but they discontinued it.
cheers both fri and looza… lots of possiable options there ill have a look.
picaview is pretty spot on though you can only get demos of it now it seems.
when you mention audtion do you mean adobe audition or a utility like picaview?
Im going to keep looking for some kind of utility that can do something similar …idealy running in the side bar of explorer and playing anything highlighted (as per renoise, cubase etc).
I also use reaktor for sampling (though its hardly a workhorse) and users are screaming for decent previewing there. Id be surprised if there isnt something a like picaview now but supported and maybe even more slimmed down.
Funny how little issues can eat up a lot of time writing music isnt it
edit: apparently vista supports audio auditioning much as xp supports picture thumbnails. hmmm… might have to switch before i wanted to
ok sorry to extend this thread further but does anyone use Yellow Tools Independence?
I dont know anything about it it just looks pretty.
Anyone managed to download anything from there?
Mine keeps hanging after 20 to 70 mb Most closest i got was 164Mb… a real pain in the ass to download.
same here! server issue their end?
Anyway due to an urgent project and emu x really crapping out on me ive ended up buying kontakt this afternoon. The demo is so impressive i think it ll suit very nicely. Just that prob with auditioning as a plug in in renoise once the demo of picaview ends but sod it ill find something. If i do ill post it here.
Ive used disco dsps highlife a bit recently and think quite a lot of it. Quite fast to use and has auditioning that works fairly well as well as good envelopes, okish filters and cue zones if beatslicing is anyones thing.
so if anyone is looking for a free bit of extra functionality for renoise go for that.
