[solved] Help me select granularly

Nothing happens when I try to use granular selection (on vol column) by holding left alt and selecting with the mouse cursor. It just selects the whole note column like normal.

I can get it working with Alt Gr (right alt) by changing to “Modifiers only” under preferences/keys. What am I possibly missing?

Win10 x64 r3b1

Works fine here though, I`m Win 7 (64) with renoise (32).

Have you got a spare keyboard lying about that you could check it with, to narrow down?

It’s working with my laptop at home, but not on my other computer using a logitech ultra-x keyboard under Win10x64. Perhaps I should report this as a bug.

Does any other Alt + Something key combo work on that machine?

taktik,

Alt gr worked after I changed “preferences / keys / global keyboard options” to “Modifiers only”. No other usual suspect worked that I could find.

What I mean is: does the Alt key work in other places in Renoise and does it work in other applications?
If you manually map for example “Alt + T” to “Insert Track” in Renoise. Does this work?

for me it is like this:

  1. select + alt = granular selection (but always including note column, no selection of single fx/vol… column possible)

  2. select + alt+ctrl = granular selection, no limitation

(I don’t really understand that behaviour - why is the first one necessary at all?, but at least ctrl should be mentioned in the help text at the bottom.)

oh. I am using Linux right now, maybe it’s different on Windows. I’ll try tomorrow at work. I often use alt-gr as a shortcut for alt+ctrl in windows applications, but in renoise with ‘modifiers only’ it was always just assigned as Alt in the past.

False alarm. Turns out my alt key actually was broken. :smashed:
