Maybe the ‘Note;’ portion at the bottom should be placed at the top of this error notice? Also include something about posting log content and where to find the logs?
^If you need to know what I was doing, for that particular crash I literally just opened Renoise and it went straight to that. But I also get the error from loading songs, xrni’s, and samples. Not 100% of the time, just maybe 1/3 of the time I do anything basic like that Renoise will crash on this machine. Exiting Renoise is almost a sure fire way to get a crash.
As for crash log… I hope I did this right:

Seriously though, literally almost every program I have ran today has crashed. Chrome crashes, individual chrome addons crash, flash crashes, Foxit reader just crashed on me. The only 2 programs I have ran today that did not crash are notepad and aol instant messenger.
So don’t let it bother you too much, I doubt it’s a Renoise bug.
Ok yeah, definitely disregard. My laptop has become the physical incarnation of crashing. It is in a perpetual state of crash at all times, it has transcended space and time to become one with the bsod.
Check the harddrive for enough space (clean your tempfolders with ccleaner) and check your HDD for errors (chkdsk c: /f, perhaps reboot)
Check for virusses / malware
Do a memory check (or perhaps a reseat of your dimms to scratch your corroded contacts);
Blow out the CPU fan (dust clofts covering the heatsink)
These are the most obvious.
I was on a trip, didn’t have internet most of the time, so I didn’t really have much room for troubleshooting, but I’m back now so I can begin that process now. Plenty of harddrive space though, I think I had like 300 GB free. I have everything I needed backed up off of it now so I can just do a complete wipe if need be, and I might just do it just because. Going to run chkdsk first though.
I don’t know (yet) how to do a memory check, and I’ve never opened up my laptop before. The most extreme job I’ve ever done on a computer’s guts was to install a graphics card and I almost fucked that up.
I’ll see how far I get with this. I was having all kinds of weird shit happen. Downloaded a sample pack that was zipped, unzipped it, some of the samples came out corrupted. One sample had the drum hit at the start but then had a random clipping buzz in the middle of the ambience tail. And it just refused to let me decompress the .zip again.
