I have a similar problem. Renoise actually closes itself in the middle of a song and the renoise.exe process remains in task manager. I am going to play the song a few times to see if its closing in the same place and if at that place there is a first time use of an effect or instrument etc. Will update.
If Renoise simply closes, it very likely that a VST/AU plugin causes this. We’ve often seen this with SynthEdit plugins but others might do the same. You could try removing all synthedit plugs first, then all others (disable VST plugins in Renoises preferences) to find out if thats really the problem…
Yeah, just tried that and no joy, renoise just vanishes in the middle of the song. Happens on 2.1.0 and 2.5 beta 8. Not good
Even with VSTs disabled in the preferences? Could you then please send us the song (taktik renoise com) or upload it somewhere?
Yeah strange indeed. If I dont restart windows after the vanished renoise it blue screens with the message Driver left locked pages in process KS.SYS, I have not done any updates recently and this only occurs with one particular song. Doing some troubleshooting here so if I come up with anything I will let you know. Sending song to you now, cheers.
You have to manually remove the renoise dll. from the task manager and your audiodriver dll.and unplug your soundcard ( if it’s usb)
I used to have BSOD because of the audio driver thats is still active …after 10/15 min windows would 'bsod 'on me
Better to try this with process xp ( taskmanager on steroids )
I really hope this problem will be solved , and ofcourse everyone else …
Solved…seems my issue may not have been similar to anyone elses. In short NI service center was corrupt, this in turn was accessed whenever Renoise played a note from the massive VST. Even though the VST itself was disabled. So I just uninstalled them for now and cleaned out the registry. Its all working ok now. Have to replace the sounds I used from Massive but that’s better than the BSOD.
Thanks Taktik for responding so quick. I have used renoise support 3 times, everytime I got a very fast professional response, cant praise you highly enough, best regards, Alan
