[solved] Sampletank not loading in 3.0

Hi,
Sampletank 32-bit not working in Renoise 3.0 64 bit. (can’t instantiate plugin in). No such problem in 2.8

Cheers.

I’m going to hitchhike off of this thread because I’m having a similar likely related problem. I just installed IK Multimedia’s Miroslav Philharmonik, which I have succesfully used in the past with Renoise 2.8. This plugin I believe uses some form of their Sampletank. The plugin loads correctly in Reaper. In Renoise 3.0 it simply does not show up on the list of VSTi’s. I’ve rescanned manually several times and it just won’t show up.

Pretty sure I had this problem too. All I had to do was open renoise in administrator mode, and maybe change compatibility mode for windows xp. (If you don’t know how to do this, go to your renoise folder, right click the exe, and click properties.)

Although if you had it working in 2.8, I guess you would have had to do this already? hm, well, give it a try either way. This is windowws only of course.

Tried running as admin and rescanning with no luck. My compatibility mode doesn’t go back to XP, I’m on Windows 8 and Vista is the oldest it shows.

edit: I’ve never installed 2.8 on this machine so I’m trying that right now to verify whether it’s a 3.0 thing or not.

edit: Doesn’t work in 2.8 either. I was running 32 bit Renoise at one time, maybe it’s 32 bit thing.

edit: Wtf installing 2.8 broke Rewire, R3 no longer available for Rewire

Ah windows 8… I’m using 7, I reckon that’s your problem :P

I reckon not, since it loads fine in Reaper.

I have ST2.5.5b-free with some XpansionTank sounds and it works in Renoise 3 64bit on win 8.1 64bit.
But it requires “Run As Admin” all the time.

You need to start Renoise with “Run As Admin” when rescanning, maybe.

Also, (I am not very certain though), you shouldn’t put the VST.dll and soundbanks into the “Program Files (x86)”. I personally put them into “C:\VST…” or so.

Anyway, It’s an old plugin and well known as troublesome one. I recommend ST3, when it’s coming…

My plugin folder is on D:\VSTPlugins

I did try rescanning after running Renoise as admin. Although my problem isn’t with Sampletank, but with a plugin that runs on its engine, Miroslav Philharmonik. Unfortunately I don’t think it will ever be updated to 64 bit, but you’re supposed to be able to play the samples from it in the normal Sampletank, maybe I’ll try that out.

edit:

I can’t get Sampletank to show up in Renoise either.

Hmm, then honestly, I have no real idea what could be wrong with ST2 on your machine.

But need double-checking about;

  • when rescaning, the “Rescan previously failed plugins” option is ON?
  • have you already tried to remove the “CachedVSTs.db” and “CachedFailedVSTs.db” files in the preferences folder?? (main menu “Help” >> “Show the Preferences Folder…”)

If these things won’t be help, I don’t have any other advice for now… :(

Rescan previously failed is on. Deleting the caches got sampletank working for me, but still no luck on the philharmonik. But I can still use the samples from it with sampletank. Which although I think I’m lacking ensemble presets, that might otherwise be better, because honestly I’ve rarely used a more absurdly buggy plugin than this philharmonik plugin.

rescanning as administrator fixed the problem for me - many thanks!
