Song Settings.specific Highlight Line Options.apply Fx To Whole Instru

I use phrasing a lot wen i program my rythms.a feature that would greatly speed this process along and lead to less confusion wud be an additional option under the song settings tab for highlighting lines.in addition to highlight every xlines for example an option that will layer on top of this another set of lines wich you could set urself…like say highlight:0,96,192,224 e.t.c this wud keep the default lines highlighted but also highlight the phrasing.this wud be an invaluable tool to me even though it sounds small.this wud make experimenting with complicated phrasing with rythms very easy…also a process effects to whole instrument wud b good to as individually applying fx to a 32 sample instrument is an absolute pain in the hole…especially if u have a huge bastardin instrument and u hav to trawl tru all the shitty samples applyin the fx and then toppn and tailing.im not fucking superman!!!

+1 for definable highlighting of specific lines

+1 for global application of ‘fx’ button over instrument samples in the sample editor

i like the idea with the additional highlighting. would be good if it had a different colour from the beat highlighting.

ye well u wud hav an option to make the additional highlight line ne colour u want,in the theme settings r whatever.can i get an amen???

it would be cool if you could use already programmed notes in a pattern/track sort a like a blueprint for the additional highlighting in following patterns. This way you can dodge and dive with your programming to achieve nice variations and what not.

here’s a weird suggestion: first off, patterns would need to have properties (reached via the context menu in the pattern sequence editor), because this would be one of them: opacity. when above 0, the pattern gets displayed with that opacity all the time, even when editing other patterns.

this would also be useful for animation makers :o

I agree the line highlighting needs improving.
I’m not sure how the interface could work elegantly for a totally flexible highlighting system like the original suggestion, but I’ve always thought it should be like this:

The current line highlight setting just changes its name to ‘lines per bar’.

An additional, visually stronger highlight setting in bars, not lines, would be called ‘bars per phrase’.

Also, the page up and page down keys would jump PHRASE number of lines, not just the default 16 as it is now.

Working with any other time signature than 4/4 is currently a pain because of this, I use page up and down a lot for navigating songs and when you’re not dealing with 16 line phrases it can be very confusing.

What about using the f9 to f12 keys on your keyboard when working in other time-signatures? Those keys make jumps based on the division of a pattern by 4, so…

with a pattern length of :

56: f9 = 0, f10 = 14, f11 = 28, f12 = 42

64: f9 = 0, f10 = 16, f11 = 32, f12 = 48

96: f9 = 0, f10 = 24, f11 = 48, f12 = 72

Just put in a number of lines for your pattern and those keys divide it nicely :)

Or did you mean something else?

Oh, nice. I didn’t know about that. Cheers.

I still think the page up / down behaviour needs changing tho…
