Since a while, i get again and again a Behaviour what begins to annoy me slowly during longer worksessions with Renoise. I often leave Renoise stopped open minimized and switching tasks to doing something on the desk or in internet during my sessions. Then i switching back to do further think in Renoise after a few minutes and get aware that Renoise has high CPU Load although it was stopped.
I have found out, that the first click with left mousebutton on Stop button stopping Audio only. But a second click or a double click doing both Stopped Audio and lowers the CPU load. A click with rightbutton on stop, stop both. It seems only happen if some VST’s are using.
Here my Questions to this.
Is this maybe normal/wanted behaviour, and If yes why?
Is this configurable that a single left button click on Stop Button doing both at same time?
The problem is, that the high CPU load persist unlimited time! After 30 minutes there is no sound anymore! At least no hearable and nothing what you see in Track Oszilloskop or other meters! I very dont like this in general.
It costs energy and slow down the pc.
I don’t believe so, but it is available as a keybind. “panic” under transport. I have it bound to the comma on my numpad. great for stopping everything at once
Maybe Renoise could so smart that if playback is stopped and you minimize or leave focus, Renoise by itself will do the “2x stop action” itself? Ah, maybe that collides with some live action…
Thx mate! I will try this. Nonetheless I am of the opinion that this should be configureable for mouseusers too, unless there are reasons to the contrary.
@ffx This would be great. But if that is not possible, why not a choosing like for mute mode or solo mode? i think this would be the easiest thing.
In addition to killing the audio engine, it’s worth mentioning that you can enable ‘Auto-Suspend’ for your most expensive plugins, both FX and instruments. This can be a life saver for bigger projects where some plugins are idling through different sections.
