Supress Vst Warnings On Startup

All my VSTs are in my Stienberg - Cubase folder (yes, I do use the devil’s tool sometimes). So I’ve pointed Renoise at the same folder so I have use of the same pool of VSTs without having to make a new VST folder just for renoise.

When I startup Renoise I get a shed-load of warning messages like ‘This Plugin only works with Cubase SX’ and ‘This plugin will not work in this host’ etc…

In the Config - Misc/VST menu, it would be handy to have a checkbox for ‘Supress warnings on startup’.

Also, how about a button for ‘Rescan Dir’ so you can use new VSTs youve just found on the net without having to restart Renoise (yes, I’m that lazy).

;)

Dunno about the Cubase thing, but it is possible to do a rescan from within Renoise.

datasette: (Haha, your nick and avatar is the leetest ever! ) I’ve noticed the same thing with Cubase-plugs outside Cubase. It also seems that some of the plugs works perfectly even though the warnings pops up in Renoise. I’m not sure if it is possible for the Renoise developers to supress the warnings as I think it is embedded in the dll’s themselves when initalized, but I know too little of this to say this for sure.

Anyway, I more or less never use the Cubase internal plugs so I did this instead:

Say that Cubase is installed in C:/Program Files/Steinberg/Cubase SX, I moved all the plugs that I wanted available only in Renoise to the C:/Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins folder (and pointed Renoise to that folder) and kept all the other plugs in C:/Program Files/Steinberg/Cubase SX/VstPlugins. By doing this I can manage which plugs should be loaded/visible in Renoise. Sometimes I find a plug that doesn’t currently work in Renoise, so then it’s moved to the Cubase/VstPlugins folder instead to keep max stability when using Renoise.

Wouldn’t the following directory structure work better (as in “without duplicate copies of the VSTs”) assuming Cubase also reads the subdirectories of the VST directory:

X:/Stuff/VST/Renoise

Just put everything under X:/Stuff/VST/Renoise first, and then point Cubase to X:/Stuff/VST and Renoise to X:/Stuff/VST/Renoise. Then move the troublesome plugs one directory up. That way Renoise won’t scan those in startup.
