…The Digital Grimebox is comprised of a bitcrusher, a downsampler, an adaptive bias and distortion algorithm, and a low pass filter.
Just for fun a short AB I just made. First 4 bars with the Sonalksis Grimebox then 4 bars without (average one instance per track/ sound). Some quite bright hihat samples used from WA Drum tools help hilight the difference a bit more. In fact I did have to add a bit of native LP filter to one of the hihat samples without Grimebox as it became quite piercing!

I’ve been using tal sampler lately just for the fantastic dac and jitter emulation , toneboosters timemachine will not cut it .
I asked patrick( tal ) if we could expect a dac effect plugin , not likely .

BUt it’s not the same …the jitter on the tal sampler is so nice …and it has those crunchy vintage emulator emulations ( no pun intended )
Also ,when demoing that rx plugin , might ass well turn of the spring reverb
i also like the old digital sound, yes the Tal sampler sounds great but the workflow lacks compared to Renoise.
when I route audio into an analog filter (MS-404 + Korg Sq-1) that goes roughly in the old digital Sound direction
if it for you possible, recommendation, but maybe that’s also because my Ms-404, first faulty series does not work properly

Good news , I’ve got a message from patrick (TAL ) , he’s playing with the idea of a dac effect plugin.
Not sure when it will be released
