Tba - Tba (Remix)

hiah
ok, i’m not really allowed to share this tune/remix yet, as it probably (and hopefully) will be released properly around spring, by a label i’ve been in contact with. which can mean cd, vinyl, digital distribution and whatnot… so i’m pretty excited :D

so i can’t reveal artist nor title of the track at this point, but i’d like to hear what you think of it and the way it sounds right now. feedback is appreciated.

the original is a poppy 3/4 downtempo thing, so i’ve pretty much turned it upside down, and only used the vocals/acappella

and yeaah - i know my version is pretty mainstream too, but i’m okay with it. it was simply the way to go. B)

direct mp3:
TBA - TBA (TBA Remix)
(remind me to remove shortly)

edit:
a couple of things i know i must look into:

  • uneven vocal levels (?)
  • general fine polishing…
  • trying a more crispy and “wider” mix

the label has also asked for a 6-7 minute version… so there’s definitely some work left.

now lilly …stay friendly lil boy , we all know that you can do it ,it just takes a little effort , inhale /exhale slowly and think pretty thoughts .

well It’s notr really my kind of thing , but I can imagine some people getting into this music …TBH …I really dislike the voice of the singer , seems like she has some difficulties in the lower regions .

lily… ok fine, i don’t expect any “flowers” from you.
however, your attitude seems to have matured lately, that’s good.
so why don’t we just leave it at that, before we all get bored.

and… if you think the track sounds amateur, fine.
reasoning it a bit better could be useful though - if you’re here to help and not to hijack

gentleclock:
thanks for listening. interesting what you say about the voice. i like it, and the slight unstableness it has.
maybe her voice is one of them love-or-hate cases, i dunno <_<

uhm. not sure what to say to all that, i don’t understand your agenda.

no tricks are required. the label is already into it.
i just want to deliver a best possible mix, thereby posting a tune and asking for feedback.

so, once again:
you don’t like it - that’s totally fine by me.
and if you don’t have anything else to add, feel free to go review something else ;)

It’s probably a question of personal taste, but I think the voice is a bit too much in front of the music.
Not that it should be buried in the music, but just a tad less front.

Maybe was it done on purpose to leave ‘room’ for the vocoded part near the end?
Maybe do I have this feeling because the voice is somehow too dry?

Anyway, as I said, it’s probably my personal taste, and apart from that, the music and the rest of the mix sound really fine.

ah, see - dare i say finally some relevant information
merci, will look into the bass frequencies.

thanks Den
glad you’re mentioning the positioning of the vocals, i’ve been wondering much about that myself, and been back and forth a few times. so i’ll try to take it down a little and see how that feels.

(i’ve been working on it for 3 days, so i might be a bit ‘audioblind’. will rest my ears for the weekend and come back fresh)

Bass freqs sound fine to me and to my spectrograph.

Vocals are too much in front. In some places the level is okay. But the “Dance with me” is definitely too much in front.

Music itself is great, I like it. :)

Lili advice is worth almost as much as asking advice from random alley cat. I am not saying it’s totally worthless, but whenever you have the option, I would recommend to take the time and find some stray cat near the dumpsters for advice.
