Scary.
There are a few problems that will make this system fail:
If it would be too strict and too tight you will get these problems:
-It would not allow software to run that you wrote by yourself unless you would deliver it to the firm that has to approve the software and you would have to do this after each compilation.
-You probably won’t be able to run a lot of old software, even that software that you did purchased.
What will happen to make this system fail even more:
not every platform will support this limitation. You can implement features and locks into hardware, if the kernel drivers of the platform won’t have any support for it, these options will be laying around dead.
Some platforms will for sure support this system, but will be hacked to circumvent it.
Drivers will be hacked to circumvent it.
And in these cases, the software developers that wrote these platforms should even be happy their product is still being used at all.
In other words on the consumer market:utterly useless.
Software that has been strongly encrypted in whole will be hacked in memory and stored unencrypted and being spread as unencrypted pirated copy.
It may take a little time before all such events will happen, but they will happen.
If they want to embed such locking and encryption devices into business desktops and thin clients:fine, it’s probably the only market suitable and to be sure there won’t be getting uncertified software on their systems unattended.
For the consumer market, this is bogus.
Just like the DVD encryption system, the first thing that came on the market were the chip modifyers that could make your DVD player region free.
Nowadays lot of manufacturers just deliver DVD players region free.
Why?
Because even if you purchased legally a DVD in the US, you would never be able to play it on a DVD player in Europe, even if the movie is old and left the cinema theatres long time ago.
That’s why it made that system crap in the first case.
So will there be a lot of crap situations with Fritz-Chip.
that site has been never updated since 2004. I wonder if the editors have been killed or some
Hey I thought that was slightly odd too… Either that or they lost the passion for it.
Reading stuff like this makes me so mad. I’m gonna go write some mad music… or listen to BotB…
Greed. We’re still getting stuck on greed.
