When you disable the “show tips at startup” checkbox, the only way to enable the startup tips is by editing the config.xml file.
You have to set the value to 1 again to enable the option. It’s better to make an option in the config tabs for this one.

you can switch the “tip of the day box” by clicking on the renoise logo now. Cool 
the most unnecessary feature in all apps is the “tip of the day” in my opinion. 
Depends on the tips.
