Tracking To A Guitar Track

Hi. I want to record a guitar song to a metronome, and then ad the beats and synth to the song. Is it possible to do this without chopping my guitar track into pieces? Can I have two different patterns playing simultaneously in the pattern sequencer? Or can I make my guitar “sample” start in one pattern and just continue on through the next patterns uninterrupted?

I know I could make the beat and then export it, and mix it in Cool Edit or something, but I want to be able to hear the guitar while I’m making the beats.

By the way my tracks tend to be 3-5 minutes long.

Thanks.

It is currently not possible to synchronize long wave files on-the-flie at any arbritraty song position from inside Renoise only.
However you can perform synchronizing options using a host like Reaper and ReaRoute, this allows you to start Renoise at any arbritrary point and have your Guitar sequence synchronised with it.
ReaRoute syncing is not super perfect and you need to add 1 or 2 seconds before full synchronisation has finished properly.
