Tracks Dsp : Surround ?

Hello,

I know that RealTracker 2 uses one new effect for using mode Surround in the pattern.
In the future version of Renoise 2, could you please add a new “Track DSP” allowing use Surround Effect ?

It will be really cool for composing musics genre “Orchestral”, “Medieval”, “Movies/Games Musics”…

Thank you & Greetings,

ViZiON

+1 for this.
simply 5.1 channle routing like SonyVegas would be awesome…!

If your soundcard supports it, 5.1 or 7.1 routing should currently available using your audio-card’s ASIO driver. Not all soundcard manufacturers design their ASIO drivers to allow routing through the individual speakers though (or offer a specific Surround routing mode).
My Terratec does allow it.

Song-Export in a 5.1 or 7.1 surroundmode sounds like a fantastic idea though…

Hi vV,

How are you ? Oh YES ! I am agree with you about a song-export in a 5.1 or 7.1 surround mode  I could use it in my musics genre orchestral-medieval without problem.

I was wondering if Renoise could generally handle “surround channels” in the future.
And I don’t mean 5.1 = simply 6 Mono/Stereo Tracks using routing etc…

I mean: 1 Track containing 6 channels. At the moment we only have 2 stereo channels.

There are effects out there, like the new UHBIK effects which are surround-capable.

Since I own these effects, maybe one day I want to make a surround song, instead of a stereo one.

But I think this is a complex thing to implement into renoise, because you must change
the whole panning stuff and so on.

Anyway +1

This plugin offers a mode that the host usually does for the plugin:configuring the audio routing for the output channels.

So this probably means Renoise should act upon the request of the plugin to give it a set of outputs so that it can configure them instead of letting you configuring the routing in the routing menu.

I would also like a (native DSP) plugin that does “Headphone” surround…(check out the blue screen movie “The barbershop” on Youtube to hear what i mean)

Oh … you’re right about the output channels, but I’m not sure if the plugins even can handle more than two input channels. There are plugins which can do that: http://freemusicsoftware.org/category/free…/surround-sound. And this is what I meant in the first reply.

In Cubase for example there exist input surround buses and output/mix surround buses.
(an input bus can be connected to 1-n input channels of the soundcard, the output bus to the output channels of the soundcard). Moreover, Cubase also provides a surround panner, which is necessary for more than two channels.

I guess Renoise had to support something similar to provide serious surround support.

Does this work ? So far I’ve seen only a routing dialog for instument outputs, not for effect outs.
If we had one for effects we had a very flexible routing feature I didn’t know of.

I never used an effect plugin for the multi-out support so because of that i can’t recall having a plugin in my library that supports this (for testing purposes with FX aliasses in the instrument list).
I doubt the FX alias will have a routing menu (i figure Renoise reads the output channels from the main instrument plugin) but i guess adding this could be less work now that VSTI routing exists as well.
