# Triplets

im probably being stupid here by not being able to work this out, but how can i do triplets.

i just need a very short triplet snare roll… im using LPB 8

at the moment the pattern reads…

30 D-402
31
32
33 D-402
34
35
36 D-402
37
38

which isnt quite right. the above just spans one whole beat.
thanks for any help.

12lpb = godlike

Here’s a little example I posted a while ago. It demonstrates a couple of methods for doing triplets. One with the delay column, another with LPB.

thanks guys, yeah im after using the delay column ideally as i like working with LPB 8 or 16

Believe me, once you go 12, you never go back.

You can divide it in 2, 3, 4 or 6, its all you need

if you’re using lpb=8 then the appropriate answer is:

``````
00 c-4 .. 0D00
01 --- .. ----
02 c-4 .. 0D08
03 --- .. ----
04 --- .. ----
05 c-4 .. 0D04
06 --- .. ----
07 --- .. ----
``````

( the 0Dxx effect delays by ticks per line, a setting which
can be edited in the “Song Settings” tab. This setting is
per default set to 12.
Now, if you want to know where to place your notes, it’s just
multiplying the row-count with “ticks per line” and then dividing
by number of notes you want to place.
So in this case this would be " 8 x 12 / 3 = 32 " which means that
you have to place a note every 32 ticks, what I have done in the above
example, as every line has a duration of 12 ticks.
alternativly you could also do this with the delay column, which goes up
to FF (255), so the equation would be " 8 x 255 / 3 = 680 " …

``````
00 c-4 .. -- ----
01 --- .. -- ----
02 c-4 .. AA ----
03 --- .. -- ----
04 --- .. -- ----
05 c-4 .. 55 ----
06 --- .. -- ----
07 --- .. -- ----
``````

… anyway - because this is obviously complicated I, like the rest of the board, advice you
to use lpb=12 )

EDIT: grammer; mi ingles es mui terrible;

excellent, thanks Simoon for explaining that.

at some point, ill give LPB 12 a go in that case

works like a dream [sometimes]

you can do triplets on lpb 8 and just adjust the division, ( for some reason everything I type is underlined )
Lpb is bassically the same as speed

ye, my advice as well. be aware that arpeggio might not sound as you want it to though. also, the groove settings won’t work and you can’t transform a lower lpbd song to 12 (unless someone has written a tool for it as of yet)
