Tripplets

I hope to clear this issue up once and for all. Once nailed I think it could be a very useful rhythm trick for doing tripplets without doing speed changes or using high pattern resolution. I’m sure some of you have sorted this out already:

Example - I’m using a song at 140bpm using 6 ticks per line. Across 8 lines I want a percussive run of 6 notes with even spacing to achieve that “6/8 drum roll with a 4/4 structure”. To do this without changing speeds or increasing pattern resolution I’ve attempted the following:

c-4 ----
c-4 0d03
--- ----
c-4 ----
c-4 0d03
--- ----
c-4 ----
--- ----

I play this back and it almost sounds right, but it isn’t. I’ve racked my brain to try and figure out how to better space the notes but can’t do better.

Can anyone better write this code than I can?

Some of us chatted about this in the past:

But give this a try:

C-4 ----
C-4 0D02
C-4 0D04
--- ----
C-4 ----
C-4 0D02
C-4 0D04
--- ----

Uugh~! Yes it’s that easy. Thank you o Glitch-Lord. We are now rolling…

This is why I was never good at maths. Where some people look and see order, I just see a brick wall. Harmony though… ahh that’s like swimming in the river!
