Ultimate Tip - Control Any Vst Plug-in Via Midi

Hello,

It seems there was a reason for my insomnia this night… :) :) It seems that I found out a way to Automate ->-> any <-<- VST plugin via MIDI inside renoise. This is done using the LFO device…

  1. Set any number of VST effects to a chain…
  2. Set the LFO device on that same channel… any place will do actually
  3. Set the LFO parameters this way (so that it will not produce a wave…) -Amplitude “0” -Offset “0”
4.Assing the plug-in you wist to automate (to the Effect parameter slot) and select the parameter you wish to automate (to the Parameter slot)
5.Select LFO device in the effects chain and press CTRL+M (so that it opens the MIDI MAPPING)
6.Select offset (<- this is important) in the LFO device
7.Go back to the midi mapping and move a slider on your MIDI controller…

And… VOILÁ

Whats also cool about this trick is that you actually get more flexible control over your mixes than in most modern sequencers. ;)

Yeah… :) back to twiddling the knobs -> :yeah: :yeah: :yeah: :yeah: :yeah: :yeah:

Hmm, i don’t get you here. Instruments can be automated with the VstiAutomateDevice and the MidiCCDevice and effects can be expanded with the little arrow on them (next to enable/disable checkbox).for mapping and automating. What’s so special of using a LfoDevice with an amplitude of 0?

Erm :) okay… :D So this topic may be deleted :) :) hah…

I’ve been searching for a way to enable this feature for like one month and posted tons of questions about this on the forum…

Thnx for telling me how to open the parameters for the VST effects. :D Did not know that trick untill now :) I thought that only some plug-ins can have their automatable effects shown since only some show them by default…

Hmm… this might need some more attention in the wiki :)

Plz… someone delete this topic :) -> going to take LFO devices off the chain…

RTFM! ;)
