another suggestion. I’d like a trigger that would make the pattern cursor move with the mouse cursor. It could just be a key, or mouse button 3, anything really. When depressed, position of pattern cursor = position of mouse cursor.
Would be immensely helpful.

You can use the mouse in the pattern editor to move the pattern cursor by doubleclicking the note-column or the effect columns.
It does not work on the panning/volume column though, the routine could be improved to do this.
You can assign the third mousebutton to perform the doubleclick action.
I can’t find any configurable trigger in Renoise itself for this, so I suppose you mean reassign button 3 in Windows. Which is ok, but not exactly what I’m looking for. I want to drag the cursor across the pattern using the mouse. This way, one could do away with the centerbar altogether. Just have a pattern and a pattern cursor.
In fact, one could do this anyway. I think it would clean the interface up.
