Video Track

I do a lot of video editing and then write music to that video, as well as write music and assemble video to the music. Both require completely different workflow and tools.

I would love to see a video playback tool, even a simple one like what is in cubase. Just a viewer, that is synced up to the playback time.

A more tracker based approach that would be awesome would be to have a video track where video clips could be placed. This would allow video to be used as a sort of sample, and would open up the opportunity for a lot of additional directions for video line effects, video mixing, etc… I bring this up as more of a performance oriented video tool. Would be totally great for a live PA to have this functionality.

Developers, what do you think?

That’s something i’d like in some future version too, though i wouldn’t have much hope for it now, as i think some more important features should be implemented first, like the new arranger, PDC and audio tracks.

Since Renoise uses Quicktime, it could be implemented using that maybe.

Meanwhile you could try the following free Video VST.

It’s a good idea, but i don’t know if i would use it though. I do some video editing too, but i’d prefer a whole new product by the renoise team especially for the purpose of editing the video, but just a synced video window would be good for composing background music to videos etc.

If movie editing would be implemented i would like to start different sessions specialized for each purpose, not all the stuff in the same interface. I don’t think there’s room for it. It would probably be too messy and stealing resources and valuable interface space.

But all in all, renoise is a tracker so I don’t hope there will be video editing as a renoise feature. Another product with similar interface and some similarities would probably be better for that purpose. But that’s only my oppinion.
