besides the odd jungle beat, I’ve been dabbling with a mixture of visual and audio programs for the last 1.5 year. I’ve been layering (processed) field recordings with more synthetic noisy sounds with the goal to create an interesting tension, movement over time. Something you could call music, maybe?
For a few weeks now, I’ve been trying out different generative graphics apps in which you can set certain rules for it to create .bmp images. Like Lindenmayer L-systems ( http://to-campos.planetaclix.pt/fractal/plantae.htm ), or fractal generating apps. (got a few nice ones here: http://www.ssdesigninteractive.com/g2/?cat=20 )
My question here is if anyone knows more cool little programs for windows that let you generate .bmp images? I’m looking for generative graphics, having some kind of geometric composition to use for example in audiopaint/photoshop to create (polyphonic) rhythms.
Not exactly what you’re looking for, but you can do some pretty awesome visual synthesis in Resolume (I prefer the 2.x versions to version 3, but have a look anyway)
