VST MIDI instrument to control computer VST instrument?

Hello guys

I will try to explain what I do need, and would be great if it will be possible:

  • I have downloaded some free VST plugins that generates chords and arpeggios [and some makes harmony progressions] but uses only internal MIDI sounds [that my midi keyboard [attached to a laptop] does not have].

Question is: is there any way I can connect standard VST instrument and link it with that VST instrument [it is not VST effect, it is VST instrument] so it can play chords / arps by using my VST I want?

I’d also like to know this, thanks to anyone who can help.

please declare “internal MIDI sounds”.
do you mean the output is a plain midi signal?! (or ‘direct music’/gm)

E: typo

Internal midi means - VST instrument can play with sounds that are built into MIDI keyboard [but not VST instrument itself]. So yes, I suppose - output is plain MIDI signal?

on windows you need a ‘midi loop-back driver’ like LoopBe1, Hubi’s or a “virtual midi-cable”.
for sending the midi back to an input. or you could try to use it inside a vst like bidule or
energyxt and connect it there with a vst instrument.

on mac theres the IAC driver for this.

Aha… Looks it is pretty well explained here using Renoise [I will have to look it frame by frame to make sure what to do] :)

How to use midi-out routing plugins in Energy XT (VST)

Thanks, I will have to study it a little bit more.
