Vst Networking?

What are the possibilties for ReaMote/System Link (offloading vst processing to another computer) type functionality within renoise? I have looked closely at OSC thinking the answer might be there, but honestly, I am still befuddled by it. Currently, I am still simply connecting to another computer via midi and routing the audio back to renoise when necessary, which is sort of ok, and doesn’t require the virtual synth to be a vst. But, obviously this way of going about things brings with it all the same little annoyances of using hardware.

If it is not possible, I don’t think it is far from possible and could be a great selling point for the next version of renoise.

You may want to have a look at JackAudio. It allows Audio (and midi) data to be streamed between applications on the same computer, or, more importantly for you; over a network. Great results when it works well. Designed for Linux and OSX so is a bit quirky on windows at times but you should definitely take a look

Very interesting. Thanks! I had no idea jack could do this. I guess I just ignored it as if it were any other audio driver.

Although OSC would be an obvious choice, you could also check Wormhole VST : http://code.google.com/p/wormhole2/ and EthernetMIDI: http://www.linuxsampler.org/ethernetmidi
