What does it take to get banned?

I have ignored many other rude replies but some time enough is enough.Should we let toxic users do what they want in this forum? Is nt that like encouraging this type of behavior and jeopardize the good thing we have here?I had my share of toxic bullying people in my life and I can tell you if they don’t get some kind of punishment they don’t stop .Most of them they don’t stop even if they get punished because bad attitude is deep written in their caracter. We don’t need this type of people here or in our lifes they spread negativity and want to put you down.

In my opinion it shouldn’t be a problem. If the comments start to become personal, then it would be a problem.
“Your music sucks” is not an attack on someone as a person in my opinion, while “i wished you never were born, please go kill yourself” is.
It’s not very polite to say any of these, and it would probably not makd you very popular saying either, but i think you are in your full right to say the first and it would be totally unacceptable to say the latter.

You’re right! But you didn’t consider that it’s one thing to tell someone you don’t like someone’s music, but it’s another thing to say it in an offensive manner. I would bet the fewest visitors here are pros, want to become pro or want to get a record deal (Who needs a record deal these days if you can release your tracks online by yourself via Bandcamp or else?), they’re just creating music in their free time for fun, and maybe they also don’t have much free time left. So what do you expect? Always serious pro stuff from guys who want to get a record deal for whatsoever? Of course there is lots of music you don’t like, of course there are many things a more experienced musician wouldn’t refer to as a finished song, of course there are many guys who are creating “worse” music in terms of quality than others, BUT do you really need to tell those guys that their music is awful and completely sucks? Why is it that hard to tell it in a nicer way or just to shut the fuck up? Sometimes I also think to myself “This can’t be meant to be serious, must be a joke for sure” while listening to music from others, but do I need to tell it that way? Being rude is not the same than to criticise, that’s for sure. Critics of course should be honest, but they should also help. Even if the world outside is harsh or not. You just said it by yourself, this is a niche forum. Within such a niche it’s not necessary pulling others down just because you don’t like their stuff, is it?! Instead you should encourage them to get better.

I very much agree with that.

I’m also not a fan of the fluffy “everybody is a winner” style, heck, I get a rash whenever I hear the word “community” these days… but the Renoise forums has always been one of the most open minded places I know, and I greatly respect that people put so much love and work into lifting each other up. Not shitting on what they do (I don’t even mean the music, I mean the effort of listening to music of others and giving feedback… making music can be fun after all, but constructive criticism is always work to a degree, IMO), even though I’m often a bitter prick myself, is the least I can do.

But I think it’s good to vent, and I think it’s good this topic was made. Bitching at each other to clear the air is better than not bitching. I don’t drink, but this one makes me wish I was drunk just so I could tell you how much I love all you goofy fucks

Let’s face it, 2020 was shitty, 2021 isn’t starting much better… let’s cut each other some slack. Failing that, at least grudge fuck one another. You know you want to!

I find this discussion a bit exaggerated, tbh. Eatme sometimes is kind of special, sometimes he might have a weird opinion or attitude. In written form, it might look offensive, but it is more an expression of some inability, to realize how others feel and think, I would say. Why do you take it so seriously, and do not ignore such posts. Not everybody is born with strong empathic senses.

Sure, it would help, if offensive posts were deleted pretty quickly, but I think said thread was cleaned up now completely?
