What Is "assigned To Track" In Vsti Options?

What effect does it have if I assign the VSTi to a certain track?

Thanks!

I’ve not used the option myself either since i regulary use vsti’s on multiple channels for “renoise hardware” echo etc. Tho assigning a vsti to a track would probably keep your mess to a minimum and probably play the effects on the assigned track instead of the track your cursor is above on the selected vsti.

…i think, havent used it tho.

I shall look into it.
The fact about the VSTI aliases confused me a bit since the function is not resourcefull in that case, didn’t consider in what other case it could actually be practical at all.

Edit:
It’s there alright, but seems a bit hidden:

 * Instrument - Select any of the third-party VST instruments found in your VST plugin folder.
 * Open editor - Open the VST instrument’s own editor (or Renoise’s alternative editor).
 * Channel - Select the channel which the VST instrument is assigned to (inside the VST instrument editor!).
 * Base Note - Set the Base Note of this instrument.
 * Assigned to track - When the box is marked, a list appears where you can select the track you want to bind this instrument to.

 * Program - Select program (or instrument inside VST).
 * Bank - Select VST bank (If VST supports this parameter).
 * Preset - Select VST preset (If VST supports this parameter).
 * Amplify - Amplify VST instrument’s output (another gain slider).
 * Auto suspend - Suspends VST instrument when no output is received, to save cpu usage.

Cpu usage is displayed right above the auto-suspend option.
