Analog, digital, who cares. You can achieve any kind of sound with a PC and the possibilities are way greater. And if YOU personally have a lot of unused space left, good for you, but the majority doesn’t. I recommend to have a look at the home studio thread, surely nobody is dismantling their machines to fill the space with furniture and vice versa. 
But anyway, you’ve got unused space left, you need physical knobs to become more creative and you’re willing to spend a lot of money for hardware. So just go for it!
