I’m a bit vague on exactly what I get for those 50 euro if I buy Renoise. I couldn’t really find any specifics on the webpage on what the package includes other than Renoise itself. So, if someone could answer these few questions I’d be very grateful
Am I buying an actual boxed program with covers and cd/dvd, or am I simply buying a license that allows me access to download the full software package?
Updates - what happens when Renoise is updated. I assume that having bought the program I get free access to download any and all future updates without having to pay extras, yes?
What exactly are the benefits of the paid package over the demo? Demo seems pretty complete and functional to me - do I get anything that is not included in the demo version, besides the gratification of supporting the developers?
Oh, and if you ask what the benefits over a cracked version is; Betatesting, influencing future versions and helping the project grow as a PRO product.
Yeah, and that little sweet fluffy feeling of owning the sweetest tracker alive.
There’s been requests about a boxed version in the community earlier, but I don’t think it’ll come quite yet. Maybe 2.0? I’d love something like that myself, imagine it should include a manual, a nice bunch of RNI/samples, the BeatBattle entries, video tutorials…?
I’m sure it’ll come one day, it’s the only tracker I can imagine come boxed like that.
¤ 50 is cheap for such a good program. You also support the development of the renoise project. Renoise is getting better and better and is already a pro music program.
Next Edition will also offer audio recording facilities that are only available to registered users.
So to tell you, the list of registered features only gets wider.
(And the price may raise so investing early supplies benefits of having a registered version for less than what a newcomer would have to pay for, Renoise used to be 40 dollars in the past.)
If you weren’t that fussed, you could use it and not register it, but supporting the people who do a lot of work and make Renoise what it is was reason for me buying it in the end. Fair do’s to the other tracker developers out there, but they have a long way to go yet to reach the standards Renoise offers.
I’ve used freeware stuff to create music, but if a product really has that ‘wow’ factor and there’s a price you pay it, you get a sense of ownership and of course there’s the benefits mentioned in the replies above.
…and your name shows up in the logo thingy when you start it up, always a winner that one.
“im not sure if voting was mentioned already, but yeah registered users get to vote on new additions.”
I’m registered, but spank my ass and call me charly, can’t do anything in the voting section in the backstage area! I just see the results (horizontal bar graph & amount of votes) -> am I missing some option here, or is the voting closed?
(+ another motive for buying the program could be that you’re releasing hardcopy music on cd’s commercially).
