Windows: Tranzistow VST renoise crashes

If you don’t have a clue how doing things in the registry, i would not touch it. Because if you delete only one wrong thing it can cause to destroy your Windows installation and you have to re-install the whole Windows again.

So there is more t it then just deleting renoise reg.entries .?
I’m 99% sure this is the exact same issue I have .
It all started with a crash , and now won’t load except in previous ren. versions , or renaming the .dll of the vst in the current ren.version

Does Renoise even use the registry? I was under the impression it puts pretty much everything in AppData.

just install one more time through Revo Uninstal Download Revo Uninstaller Free - Remove unwanted programs easily it shows all the registry and folder entries changed

The registry is very complex and you have to know what you’re doing. Otherwise you can destroy your whole Windows and it even can be the case that Windows doesn’t start anymore next time when you turn on the PC. The registry is very complex and very sensitive. There’re millions of entries and you have to find the right ones to delete them.

But there’re some tools out there that can do the job for you. One of them is CCleaner, a well known tool for doing such things to clean up your system. Here you can download it:

1.) Install CCleaner and start it.

2.) Then deinstall Renoise. Now open CCleaner again and go to “Tools” and click the tab “Registry” and click “Scan for Issues” in the lower right corner. After scanning it will list all the found errors.

3.) Now click “Reviev selected Issues” and make a backup of your registry in case something went wrong during cleaning process.

4.) After that click “Fix all selected issues”.

5.) If all errors are fixed, click “Back” in the upper left corner to jump back to the Registry

6.) Now repeat the steps 3 to 5 until no errors are displayed anymore.

7.) If all errors are fixed, restart your PC and install Renoise again.

If this doesn’t work for you, Then you need to have a deeper dive into the registry that CCleander can’t do unless you purchased the Pro version.

To have a deeper dive into the registry, let it be done by a person who has experience with the registry. But in most cases CCleaner is enough.

Ah yes , crap cleaner used that in the past

CCleaner is malware for about serval years don’t use it.
The is nothing complex in the registery no need to scare people

yep, you were right renoise uses registry just for registering some file classes, so nothin to delete there

Maybe I did something wrong , but when I open renoise’s log file , the first entrie is from the 11th of juli , isn’t Revo supposed to unistall everyting ( including logs ) ?

There could certainly be some corruption in your Windows install, either in system files or in a redistributable DLL or something. If it’s the former this could sort it out:

I assume it doesn’t wipe AppData by default because that’d nuke your configs too. You can always do that manually, but you said you deleted the plug caches already, so I’m not sure how much it would help.

Appdata/Roaming
Well they are related to renoise , so they should be deleted .

Well, try closing Renoise and then renaming that folder to Renoise_backup or something. Would let you see how a fresh Renoise behaves without actually deleting anything.

Could be something with wrong file paths for the save folder, check the invisible gaps or wrong Unicode character
Or the registry entry of Tranzistow
Go to:

|HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HrastProgrammer\Tranzistow

and delete the key HrastProgrammer:

What do you mean ?
I am not saying is should delete tha app.folder , ofcourse not , but just everything related to renoise
Most of these files are installed with renoise ,
There is nothing in there that would affect other pieces of software . ( logically so )

I didn’t say to delete Roaming, I said you can simulate deleting AppData/Roaming/Renoise if you’re curious whether it would fix anything. And no, those are not installed with Renoise, they’re created when you first launch Renoise.

be very careful with Appdata/Roaming you can loose you settings first backup what you are deleting

If so , it shouldn’t run in renoise 3.4.1 ?
It runs fine in 3.4

ah ok so try saving patch the in 3.4.1 and choose some other folder as default.
then try one more time in 3.5

NO worries , I backup my most important stuff every few weeks
Projects-Presets-Reaktor Ensembles -Pure data stuff , all my serial numbers etc… all safely backed -up
