Nice, warm sound! Love especial the 1st quarter with the melodies. Maybe pitch the whole song 2 semitones up? EDIT: Oh sorry, it’s already 1st dec, so pointless suggestion.
in this tune, stardust is acting as a limiter on the main chord track (in order to tame the amplitude on the parts where the filters open completely) and as some slight parallel compression on the drums (kick / percs).
don’t remember the 3rd instance without looking it up right now
there are probably better sounding compressors even in the freeware realms nowadays (whereas for example, TDR compressor is too gentle, even with the most extreme settings in some cases), but throughout the years, it has become a trustworthy companion i feel home with.
thanks for your feedback !
@jurek
not pointless at all. i’m always interested in improving a song’s sound, no matter if it’s for a contest or not.
wonder what made you think that it’s too low-pitched? just a stomach thing?
i just gave the +2 transpose a try… think i should’ve done it in the first place, as i got used to the current pitch to an extent where i can’t seem to adjust to the changed sonic characteristics of a transpose up by two half tones.
Awesome track! Music grasps and takes a listener to its light and peaceful stream. Both instrumental and technical parts are up to the mark. Main tune gives birth to the melodic branches resembling the arms of the river, which along with maternal stream run into the large sound sea to merge in the endless sound ocean. Music sounds extremely poetic producing bright visions in one’s head.
