drag&drop is so great … but maybe it could be better
yesterday i played arround some hours … and i noticed another thing on drag&drop … drag&drop with really big selections - selections bigger than displayed pattern informations on the screen.
imagine my pattern length is 256 rows. i want to move the first 128 rows to the middle (starting on row 128) but with such big length on drag it’s not possible to see the drop-position coz the mouse pointer keeps in the middle of my dragged selection.
maybe it’s better on a dragged selection the mouse-pointer jumps to the top left corner of the dragged selection (or the selection top-left jumps to the mouse) and i can place this one correctly on any selection size! (maybe it’s possible to realize this on-the-fly repositioning with a additional key while holding the mouse button)
there are some gfx-software that workin like this - you can change the pointer position on movin, scalin a layer or something like this … this handling is not a new idea!!!
at the moment the mouse pointer keeps still the the drag-starting position (within the selection) - its ok … but on a long/big selection i must must move to top of the selection to choose a drag-starting position that’s make a drop on the right position possible.
could be more simple with an additional shortcut (while draging) that moves the selections top-left corner directly under the mouse pointer. so i can make a selection, drag the selections end and after some small mouse moves i’m on the drop position with my selection
