2 questions about changing phrases with program changes

  1. I’m using the Instrument Midi Control meta device to switch phrases on and off, but the plugin I’m using also responds to program changes producing undesired results. Is there a way I can prevent this?
  2. When the note and the program change occur together on the first row of a pattern, the note is triggered before the program change takes effect. Is there a way can make sure the program change happens first without putting it in the previous pattern?

I’ve solved this by creating new instruments each with a with a VST alias and the desired phrase. Then I switch instruments instead of sending program changes.

I didn’t know you could use the midi instrument device to turn phrases on and off. How do you do that?

I’m not sure about your midi control change conflicts…

When I use control change effects, I put them in a different track, to the left of the track with midi notes. This lets me make sure the control changes occur when I want them to. As you’ve seen, when the control change and midi notes are in the same track, Renoise will send the midi note first and then the control change, which isn’t what I want.

I’m referring toChanging Triggering Modewhere thetriggering mode is controlled via MIDI program change events and0 turns phrases Off entirely.

To do it with the Instrument Midi Control device I selected Prg from one of the drop-downs, switched it on, set a value I wanted, and right-clicked to record the slider value into the pattern.
