74 minute wave file limit

I’m attempting to render a track that is 8 hours long, and every time I try to play the rendered file, it shows up as 74 minutes, which is the length of a standard CD if I’m not mistaken

I could probably just render it in sections and combine but it does make things a bit more legwork on my part

What am I missing here?

Running debian linux bookworm

Thanks in advance

How do you know the track is 8 hours long? Have you played it in real-time all the way through?

The .wav format supports files up to 4GB.

This should allow for around 6.5 hours, maximum when rendering
16-bit 44.1k format; even less hours for higher bitrates.

You may need to render the song in two parts.

Have you confirmed the source song is actually 8 hours long?
What output format have you selected?

The song is 47 bpm, all patterns are 512 lines, there are 176 patterns, 174 of which are completely empty

47bpm at 128 beats per pattern gives us around 2.72 minutes per pattern

at 176 patterns that puts us around 480 minutes, which is 8 hours

The resulting rendered wav from renoise is 4.8gb

Render settings -

Priority: High
Interpolation: Precise
Sample Rate: 44100
Bit depth: 16bit

Looks like if I limit the file to 4GB and under 6.5 hours it renders the time correctly and I’ve just hit the limitation of the wav file format… whoops!

Thanks everyone!
